Professional Experience and Background

Supervisory Safety Training On-Line is based on my experience in industrial safety and training.  It is designed as a convenient way for supervisors to get the basic training that is needed to meet their supervisory and safety responsibilities. Listed below is some information about what I have done and what I now do.

Homer L. Richardson
Worked 28 years with Allied Signal (Now named Honeywell International)

As Safety Director, had overall responsibility for safety programs at 400 locations and 160,000 employees in domestic and international operations


Currently, President of H. L. Richardson, Inc., providing consulting on training and safety; developing training materials and conducting seminars related to industrial safety issues for individual companies and professional associations

Consulting on Industrial Safety Programs

Worked with domestic and foreign operations on structure and implementation of safety programs

Audited aerospace, automotive and chemical safety systems

Wrote Guideline Manuals for Safety and Loss Prevention Programs

Developed and conducted conferences for management and safety professionals in U.S. and overseas

Consulting with World Environment Center (WEC) and government of India on safety training and auditing methods

Safety Training and Motivation

Developed and conducted seminars for training of safety professionals

Developed and taught motivational safety programs for supervisory and hourly personnel

Produced more than 50 safety video programs - distributed by BNA Communications

Published book Practical Safety for Supervisors - distributed by ERI for modular training of new supervisors

Wrote and teach AIChE Continuing Education Seminar on "Process Safety Management"

Developed a series of seminars for Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) on implementation of different PSM Elements

Taught Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) techniques for Law Environmental

Consulted on structure and content of Plant PSM program
 
 

Risk Management Program

Wrote and taught the AIChE Continuing Education Seminar on the 1996 EPA RMP Rule

Prepared a series of seminars to be used with companies having small chemical operations in complying with RMP Rule
